Welcome to the Limitless Podcast. My name is Radhika and I’m the founder of Jiva More Life. Our mission is to inspire you to believe that you are limitless. Have you been thinking about quitting your corporate job and maybe pursuing one of your dreams? Here’s one piece of advice I have for you if that’s the route you’re thinking of taking.
How do you build enough leverage to quit your corporate job?
If you’re looking to quit your corporate job I’d really look at your expenses and finances and figure out what you need to survive and the job you’re going to take or whatever you’re about to do. Are you going to make any money during that time? If you’re not going to make any money during that time then you need a plan or a way to have all of your income already financed. You need to have all of that saved, or if you are going to be making money, but just in a different way or part time, then you need to know how much money you do need saved. I think it’s really financially based. If you can look at how much money you need then you can work backwards and determine how much you need to save and where you can get that income from. You may be able to get that income from your corporate job and that would be amazing. Maybe, you just need to cut back on some unnecessary spending like shopping or travel for example. If you are able to cut down on it for a few months then you can actually quit your corporate job and have the freedom to do everything you want to do all the time. Another idea if you aren’t making enough money from your corporate job to be able to quit is to look into a side hustle. Is there a side hustle you can do or some other way to do something you love and make extra money that you can then save? A lot of times people think saving a little bit here or there is going to make a huge difference. For example if I don’t get a coffee or if I don’t eat out tonight it's not really going to make a difference. Instead, if you switch your lifestyle and you decide I’m going to start eating at home more because if Icook it’s healthier and it’s way more cost effective, then that lifestyle change could really save you money. The key is to look at those bigger items and how you can reach your financial goals to be able to quit corporate. Then you’re all set to pursue whatever it is you’re looking to do.
